iMovie Basic

Requirements:  Students should be comfortable moving around on the computer.  A working knowledge of the basic apple OS and reasonable mouse technique is required.  Know how to find things, open and close files.  A little knowledge of PHOTOS program as well as iTunes also helps.   

Due to the complexity of pre-loading media for this class, personal Lap Tops will not be permitted.  

You must register online prior to taking the class.

Class Description:   iMovie Basic will focus completely on making a movie presentation using STILL PHOTOS ONLY. No need for a dedicated video camera. ANY digital camera will do. We will cover the basics of making a move using iMovie 10.1.8.  This will include camera capture, terminology, basic organization of media, editing, movie assembly, addition of background music and voiceover narration. Finally we will record our movie and ultimately share it via iDVD or any of the newer outlets—youtube, e-mail, iOS, etc. 

Four sessions and it is extremely important you attend every class.

PAGES

CLASS DESCRIPTION:  Learn how to create and format a document using PAGES.  Included will be how to insert a table, chart, shape and media.  Different templates for letters, reports, stationery, flyers & posters, newsletters and more will be discussed.  If you have used Word and/or Publisher, you will enjoy how PAGES incorporates both aspects into one package.

iMOVIE ADVANCED

RequirementsBecause ADVANCED is a CONTINUATION, To enroll in the advanced class you MUST have completed the basic class either this time or at some time in the past.  There is no time to go back to the beginning steps to review.  

Class Description: iMovie advanced will CONTINUE from where we leave off in basic.  This WILL use movie clips EITHER from standard digital cameras or Video Cameras.  Again, it is NOT REQUIRED to have a dedicated video camera.  ANY digital camera will do.  Both classes will address how to make a movie, record it and ultimately share it either via iDVD or any of the newer outlets--youtube, e-mail, iOS etc.

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

CLASS DESCRIPTION:  

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS WORKSHOP  for iMacs and Laptops 

           Do you want to know how quickly you can undo a mistake when you are typing? Or would you like to learn a 2 or 3 key command to perform a direction to copy, cut or paste? It saves the 

motion of taking the pointer to the menu bar and using the drop-down menu to execute a command. In this workshop you will use three hand-out exercises to practice using the primary commands and hopefully the mind and hand will connect.

NUMBERS

CLASS DESCRIPTION:  What is Numbers and how can we use it?  Learn how to create and format a spreadsheet.  Different templates will be discussed such as: Checklist, Calendar, Budget, Recipes, Party Planners, Track Home Improvements and much more. Not only a spreadsheet application it can also be used as a giant pinboard.  Similar to Excel and Google Sheets but it comes with your iOS devices at no additional charge.   

Class one will cover the very basics of the program.  Class two will go into more depth.

Mac Basics for High Sierra (OSX 10.13.2+)

STUDENTS MUST PREREGISTER ONLINE FOR THIS CLASS 

CLASS DESCRIPTION:  This hands-on class of five 2-hour sessions covers the essentials of working on an Apple Macintosh computer (desktop or laptop) using the latest operating system—High Sierra. The class covers: starting up and safely shutting down your computer, getting around the desktop, using the mouse and Magic Track Pad, starting and quitting applications, adjusting the Mac’s preferences so the computer works the way you want it to, creating documents and folders, e-mail basics, photos, printing, copying and sharing, surfing the web, copying to and from a flash drive, using the simple word processor that comes free with every Mac (TextEdit), and much more. This is a basic class for people who have very little computer experience, or for those who want to brush up their skills.  

You must indicate on your registration if you intend to bring your own laptop (updated to High Sierra), or will be using the Club’s iMacs.
